You have been planning for your big day, taking care of all the details, getting invitations out, finding a caterer, a band, and, of course, finding the dress and having it fitted. Now, you have decided to lose a few pounds, but where does a bride with limited time, energy and desire to add one more thing into her schedule go to get motivated? How about a Wedding Boot Camp? They are fun, motivational, results are achievable, and, you can join a boot camp with your bridal party!
These camps are designed as full body workouts, without the need for a gym membership or gym equipment, since Boot Camps are usually held at city parks, although during the winter months they are moved into studios or even dojos. You don’t even have to buy any workout gear since it is supplied by your Boot Camp trainer. All you have to do is show up, and get ready to have some fun with exercise.
Wedding Boot Camps are from 6 to 12 week programs. Depending on what your goals are and what kind of time you have, will determine which camp you should join. Some camps even have options of adding boxing or kick boxing into your training. Before making any decisions about which camp, what kind of training you want to participate in, and how fast you want to achieve your goals, you should have a meeting with the trainer. Let your trainer know what your time constraints are, what you are able to commit to, what you are willing to take on, and exactly what your goals are, as well as your expectations of the camp. This will help you, and your trainer, work together to make sure you meet your goals, without anyone feeling like they’re in over their head!
Many times Boot Camps also have nutritional information and diet guides. These will allow you to track what you’re eating, and when. Nutritional journaling, please, let us not use the word ‘diet’, will help you think about what you could be eating, why you’re eating (is it stress related?) as well as how much you’re eating. If you are writing down that cookie you‘re about to eat in your journal, maybe you’ll be more inclined to pick up an apple instead. These journals can also help you change the habits surrounding when and what you eat. Instead of getting home and grabbing whatever to eat because it’s right there, right now, your journal may help you to put on some running shoes and go for a nice relaxing walk. So, not only are you changing your diet, getting into better shape, and reducing your stress level, you are probably feeling better about everything (thanks to those wonderful little endorphin guys!), which is going to keep you from becoming the dreaded Bridezilla!
